town is also known with name 'Velvet beach'. Nevertheless the touristic activity has not
reach the efficiency that force the bathers to dispute few meters of sand each other. This is the right place to have at
the same time relax and fun. The interesting monuments in the old-town are: Palazzetto

URBINO
In the secon half of 1400 almost all north Marche
Region was part of the small and fierce state of 'Duke of Montefeltro'. The leader of this
state, the Duke Federico, was a strong and well-known mercenary and this activity had to
be very profitable as he built a impregnable castle in the town of Urbino. In spite of
wars and fights, in his palace he took place a shelter for painter, writers and artists.
So now his castel is one of major museum in Italy and also the famous painter Raffaello
was discovered by this man. Nowday the formidable walls and the inaccessible ways that has
protected the town for centries as not much sense, on the contrary has keep out Urbino
from economic expansion. The town is seat of a old university with many students but
somehow Urbino is bowing to the fate of Venezia: all his citizens are moving away.
In
Acqualagna, a small town close to Urbino, there is a wood with renowned truffles, for the
'affecionados' of this food the trip is a duty.

GUBBIO
Italy is a young state, for centuries was divided in small
parts. Because of that this country has
been easly invaded by its enemies, but thanks to that all the small state had its own
capital with some interesting monuments. The town of Gubbio is in that number with
Palazzo dei Consoli, il Cathedral, the church of S.Ubaldo. But this place is keeping
on also a competition aged centuries:"The run of Ceri". Each part of the town
has his 'Cero', a enormous litter with his patron saint at top, and the teams run in the
old-town among the crowd up to the small montain overhang Gubbio. But be carefull: the
inhabitants of Gubbio, usually a kind people, don't organize the game for the pleasure of
tourists but just for them self and the visitors are 'just tolerated'. But if you
are willing to 'take the risk' the performance will exciting.
